RFID Technology: Making Screening Simpler

Major App Scanning RFID Technology on Flex-Mat Screen media

Each aggregate and mining application is unique, which means the screen media needs to be sized specifically for your needs. We work hard to make it easier for you to order new screen media to fit your specifications without risking sizing discrepancies or inventory management issues.

FLEX-MAT ID Enabled technology features radio-frequency identification (RFID), specifically Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, to make inventory management easier.  In our FLEX-MAT tensioned screen media, we insert an electronic tag into the green polyurethane strips while, in the modular screen media, the tag is located in the polyurethane frame. The tag can be scanned and read through The new MAJOR App. The tag transmits data to the app to be saved to your account, including the inventory number for the screen media, the sizing of the wire, wire openings and more.

Here are the top three benefits of our RFID technology:

1. Convenience for Inventory Management

Many RFID inventory management systems require a specialized RFID reader. The MAJOR App, by contrast, includes an integrated RFID reader tool, meaning operators don’t need anything but their phone to use ID Enabled technology. If Wi-Fi is unavailable, the NFC technology works offline and records information to send when the connection is reestablished.

This gives operations the option to track inventory in one easy-to-use application. You can now use The MAJOR App to monitor the FLEX-MAT Sensor, use the RFID reader tool for inventory management, order product and calculate screening efficiency and open area. Any order made through ID Enabled on The MAJOR App gets recorded electronically, allowing you to easily access your order history.

2. Sizing Accuracy

In the past, operators measured each screen media panel by hand with a measuring tape to know the size of new panels to order or to make sure the correct panel was being placed. Even the slightest error in measurement meant ordering or installing the wrong size screen media. Not only does this result in the screen media not fitting the screen box, it can also mean the final product doesn’t fit spec, leading to lost profit over time.

ID Enabled technology reads the specifications of the screen media through the RFID tag, meaning you can be sure you’re putting in the proper screen media before operations start up again. The RFID reader also makes it easier to switch out screen panels with different open areas by recording the size of the screen media. If a screen media panel needs to be replaced, you can use ID Enabled to quickly pull up the specs of the screen media and the wire.

3. Simplified Reordering

FLEX-MAT ID Enabled simplifies product ordering by allowing plant managers to see ordering details including the product number, sizing specs and inventory data. While screen media specifications are often included on the side of the screen for visibility, the print wears off over time. RFID tags make it easy to find equipment specs in these instances to make sure you’re aware of every screen in your warehouse. Additionally, our technology allows you to add in custom information to improve usability for your specific operation.

RFID technology makes inventory management simpler and more precise no matter what material you’re screening. Learn more about FLEX-MAT ID Enabled today and take full advantage of our automated intelligence options.
